29Jun – And Away We Go!

Two days ago, this vacay was getting off to an inauspicious start: our power went out (again…but that’s a different story) at 11:15 AM on Friday. The Restoration didn’t come for another 26 hours. Fortunately, we’d spent the night cloaked in the welcoming hospitality (and air-conditioned comfort) of Don Knepper’s home before returning to ours to resume trip preparations in the silence of an unpowered house.

Power was restored while we were packing. Trip preparations ramped up. All that remained was getting a good night’s sleep and awaiting the arrival of Vince who had generously offered to drive us to the airport.

Our journey through Hopkins began…as so many others before…with a libation-al stop at the Great Lakes Brewing Co.bar on Concourse C as we had time to kill.
Then…kaboom!

If the power issues hadn’t been enough to cause Rob’s hair to go brown, our flight was delayed due to air traffic control restrictions on the number of flights permitted to land in Newark. We had an hour and 40 mins between landing and start of boarding for Europe. Now, that time has been nearly halved. At least the boarding process for larger planes usually takes time and it should provide us with an extra 30 minute cushion…IF there are no further delays. Fingers are crossed.

MDR, The above was not the OG (Original bloG) I wrote for this day.
Life happens…things change…and, honestly, I found it a bit pedantic on the re-read.
